Koh Lanta

After 3 days in Phuket, we arrived in Koh Lanta.
Much more beautiful than Phuket, this place is so relax and quiet, even if it was high season. A dream!

Inner Koh Lanta – best explored by scooter -offers a gorgeous scenery of tropical vegetation, small farms and sleepy villages, which appear very distant from the buzz and bustle of the island’s coast where most tourists reside.

Old town used to be Koh Lanta’s main port. Today, it is mostly visited for its beautifully preserved buildings. Several restaurants here have a pier into the sea, where you can eat looking at the islands off Koh Lanta’s west coast (see pic below 😀 ).

We couldn’t resist to a coconut massage on the beach.
Thai massage is known around the world. After a day on the beach, it was great to surrenderer my tired back to the expert care of this massage center. The experience was really blissful, as the massage took place on a beach tree-house from where I could admire the sun setting on the sea’s horizon. Coconut oil smelled and felt very nice. Just be aware that the massage can be quite vigorous so if you have any pain you should always flag it in advance!

On New Year’s Eve, we had dinner on the beach, toes in the sand. Then we enjoyed the poetic paper lanterns floating in the sky.
At midnight, it was time to dance and have some cocktail buckets.

On January 3, I turned 26! I was very lucky to celebrate my Birthday in Maya Bay (without Leonardo :p) and also visit Monkey and Bamboo beach.
It was a good place for snorkeling!
I didn’t dare to go and check out the sharks, but on my cotravelers accounts they were small innocuous and rather shy!

We also went to the National Park and met some funny monkeys. It was my first encounter with monkeys, a nice experience!

Lunch at Drunken sailors, thanks to Lonely Planet, hippie and happy atmosphere. We could have stayed there for hours… But then it was time to leave Koh Lanta and fly to Bangkok (soon on the blog)!

Let’s stay in touch: take a look at my Instagram & Facebook 🙂
