3rd day in Chiang Mai, we booked a half day to see the elephants.
I was really excited because I had never seen elephants before!

Many tour operators offer elephant rides.
While the experience can surely be fun, not always the elephants in these centers are treated well.
It is important therefore to choose centers that have a reputation for treating them well (guidebooks can help with this!).
As for us, to stay on the safe side, we were happy to go to a different center, only for elephants rehabilitation (those who worked in the forest, in circus…), which only offers the possibility to feed and wash them (no ride allowed!).

After beeing picked up at 7 at our hotel and 1 hour drive, we arrived at the park.

They first gave us infos about the Elephant Retirement Park and activites.
Then it was time to change our clothes and put these fabulous yellow t-shirts on 😀 (sorry I don’t know the brand and can’t tag it :P) .

We fed the elephants, enjoyed washing them and loved being in there company! It was so funny to see them put sand on their skin with their trunks!
The huge mom and her little baby were a-do-ra-ble!
It was the first time I saw elephants so closely, and it was crazy how delicate they were, avoiding to walk on our feet!

It was really cool to spend some time with these giant animals, if you’re interested here is there website: http://www.elephantretirementpark.com/
