First time in Asia!
After having landed in Bangkok, we flew directly to Chiang Mai, Thailand’s nothern capital.
It’s a really calm city and a nice place to relax, completely different from the craziness of Bangkok.
We were very lucky to arrive just on time for the Sunday market and to discover the delicious street food.
This was a very unusual Christmas, walking in sandals and shorts through the historic center of Chiang Mai for its famous Sunday night market, where street food stalls offer a wide and exciting variety of gastronomic experiences.
And… Watch out for the spicy! When asking for food, I personally sticked to the classic foreigners “not too spicy please” :-p
And I have to say, the food was really good in Chiang Mai, a foodie’s paradise! It’s there that I had the best Pad Thai ever!
This city offers a lot of great activities, but you can also just walk around the streets and discover shops, lovely cafés and massages…
The first day, we visited Chiang Mai’s beautiful temples : Wat Phra Singh, Wat Chedi Luang, … Discover some pics bellow 🙂
Some of them offer the possibility to have a chat with the monks, as it is an opportunity for them to improve their English.
And so we did. It was really interesting to get a perspective on a Buddhist monk life and view of the world after visiting the temples.
We had some amazing excursions, like visiting forests, waterfalls, country villages, elephant sanctuaries… I will share them with you soon on my blog 🙂
